Species: VIVIANITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 2 mm crystal, 2 views Field Collected: From small box of unsorted micros, gift of Bob Whitmore Catalog No.: u1341 Notes: |
Species: GOEDKENITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 0.2 mm goedkenite crystals on palermoite Field Collected: From small box of unsorted micros, gift of Bob Whitmore Catalog No.: u1340 Notes: Made three attempts to get a good photo of this. Looks much better under the scope. |

Species: GOEDKENITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 1 mm field of view - feathery goedkenite sprays on palermoite Field Collected: From small box of unsorted micros, gift of Bob Whitmore Catalog No.: u1346 Notes: |
Species: WHITLOCKITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 1.8 mm clear tabular whitlockite crystal on siderite with coated palermoite crystals in foreground. Field Collected: From small box of unsorted micros, gift of Bob Whitmore Catalog No.: u1344 Notes: The intimate association of palermoite with whitlockite in siderite vugs is common in pod 3 material as noted in The Pegmatite Mines Known as Palermo. Micro goedkenite crystals are also present on this specimen. The gunky, resinous, couating is very difficult to remove. |
Species: ROCKBRIDGEITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 1 mm field of view - prismatic rockbridgeite crystals Field Collected: From small box of unsorted micros, gift of Bob Whitmore Catalog No.: u1342 Notes: Deep red transparency observable in a few areas. |
Species: CHILDRENITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 8 mm field of view - cluster of pale yellow childrenite crystals Field Collected: From small box of unsorted micros, gift of Bob Whitmore Catalog No.: u1343 Notes: Not much matrix contrast for this cluster of childrenite crystals. |
Species: SIDERITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 3.5 mm field of view - scalenohedral siderite behind foreground whitlockite Field Collected: From small box of unsorted micros, gift of Bob Whitmore Catalog No.: u1348 Notes: |

Species: SIDERITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 2.5 mm field of view - scalenohedral crystals with clear whitlockite Field Collected: From small box of unsorted micros, gift of Bob Whitmore Catalog No.: u1348 Notes: |

Species: DUFRENITE ? Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 5 mm field of view - velvet fur balls (zoom view 2 mm) Field Collected: From small box of unsorted micros, gift of Bob Whitmore Catalog No.: u1351 Notes: The Pegmatite Mines Known as Palermo lists dufrenite for Palermo #1, pod 3, the source of this specimen. The structure/habit of these balls compare well with many photos of this species on mindat. Calcium is an essential element for dufrenite. It is not required for rockbridgeite-frondelite. Analysis is planned. |
